What is autism?
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) are a series of conditions, which affect to a greater extent the social and communicative interaction capacity of the sufferer. It is estimated that 1 in 160 children has an ASD.
Common signs of autism:
- Avoidance of physical and eye contact.
- Sensitivity to sounds, smells, lights and touch.
- Repetitive behaviors such as sounds, words or movements.
- Prefers routines and has difficulty adapting to change.
ABA Therapy
Applied Behavior Analysis(ABA) therapy is a teaching method designed to enable people with learning difficulties to acquire social and life skills that will encourage their autonomy.
Before starting the activities, an assessment of the child’s aptitudes is made to define the priorities and objectives of the program.
